A.Semynoha, the Committee Chairman, and V.Shandra, the Minister of Ukraine in Charge of Emergencies and Protection of People from the Consequences of Chornobyl, expressed their opinions concerning prospects of cooperation between profile sectors of supreme legislative and executive power of Ukraine during the next five years.
They dwelled upon their concepts of common programs and directions of activity. Thus, the following tasks should be of top priority: prevention and elimination of the consequences of nature disasters, technical accidents and catastrophes; the State policy in the field of nuclear and toxic waste disposal; elimination of consequences of Chornobyl disaster; social protection of people who suffered from Chornobyl disaster.
P.Rosenko, the Vice-Minister of Labour and Social Policy, stated that since 2004 the Ministry of Labour has been determined as the chief administrator of budget funds for funding programs of social protection of the people who suffered from Chornobyl disaster. He also stated that "the Ministry created the relevant department in order to enhance implementation of legislation in the said field".
The participants of the meeting also discussed a number of other issues. The Parties reached an agreement regarding further cooperation.
